I'm asleep, but not at rest
I'm awake, and unaware
I've got my feet on the ground, and my head stuck in the clouds
Flying to places my mind would never dare
To go,

Am I dreaming or have I opened up my eyes?
Have I passed away, or am I still alive?
Is this world I'm standing in all inside my head?
Have I lived a life, or am I still in bed?

I stand upon mountains that tower over nations
With their issues and problems they choose to never solve
I walk weightless on water and gaze at my reflection
Then plunge deep into the sea, until all reality dissolves

If I could choose, I'd live my whole life in here
I just want to run away, I'd love to disappear
Pack up my soul, head for the world inside my head
Where I can dream every day, and never leave my bed.

And it was here beneath the ocean, my shell buried within the sand
As I plunge beneath the waves, I think I finally understand
Our souls are hungry, they yearn to feed, and yet we starve them on empty dreams
We cover them up, and lock them inside. What once we exulted we now try to hide
I'm sick of this feeling, I'm done with this cold, I'm fed up with feeling, of feeling so old
The clocks may tick down, and our bodies will fade
But the earth will live on, and our souls will remain.

The world is a canvas, and we are the brush
So let's paint a picture, a picture for us

Have I woken up, or fallen back to sleep?
